What's My IP
An IP address, short for Internet Protocol address, is a unique numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network using the Internet Protocol for communication. When you access a website, your browser automatically sends a request to the website's server to retrieve the content, and your computer's IP address is included in this request to inform the server where to send the response.
Our "What’s My IP" page utilizes this information to identify and display the IP address of your device as it appears on the Internet. This particular address is commonly referred to as the "public" IP address. It's important to note that this public IP address may differ from the IP your device uses to communicate within a "private" home or office network. Moreover, within the private network, multiple devices may share a single public IP address, typically assigned to a router or firewall.
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that private networks often use specific IP address ranges designated for internal use. These private IP address ranges are as follows:
- 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
- 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
- 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
